HELP | The Room VR: A Dark Matter

GAMEPLAY FAQ

The Room VR is compatible with PlayStation VR, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, Valve Index, Vive Cosmos, HTC Vive, & Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

Try using the in-game hint system. Hints are located in the tabs on the bottom of the inventory. If you don’t see these tabs, check your options to make sure that hints are turned on.

If the hints don’t get you back on track, you can get in touch with us via info@fireproofgames.com. Make sure to include a detailed description of the problem you’re having, the last hint you received and the last core action you completed in the game.

The game generally saves after each puzzle has been completed. If an item was revealed and collected before quitting out of the game, the item will be where it was before you picked it up.

This is a bug, which we’re in the process of fixing. If you quit the game with that slider puzzle in a particular state, it becomes impossible to solve.

To get around it, open the pause menu and select ‘Restart Chapter’. Then play through the level as normal, but when you get to the slider puzzle, you must solve it in one attempt, rather than quitting the game and returning later. Once you’ve solved both slider puzzles you can quit and restart as you wish.

We’ll be addressing this in an update soon, sorry for the inconvenience!

This is a bug, which we’re in the process of fixing. This relates to the section where you go inside the organ workings. It’s possible to teleport yourself to a position that you shouldn’t go to yet, and get stuck there.
If you find yourself in this position then quit to the main menu and then once you’re back in the main menu select ‘Continue Game’. You’ll return to the Chapel to the location before you teleported to the one which caused the issue, and should be able to carry on.

Something that a few people have missed (we didn’t make it clear enough!) is that the lever that selects the gear has three positions – one at each end and one in the middle. If you use the middle position, you can select the other cog.

META QUEST HELP

This is an bug in the Oculus graphics system that unfortunately affects The Room VR. Oculus are working hard on a fix, but in the meantime the easiest way to get around it is to quit back to the Oculus dashboard and then go back into the game.

Sorry to hear that! It seems like very occasionally a Quest can get into an odd state that causes crashes in the game.

If this happens, turn off your Quest and restart it. That should solve the problem.

STEAM HELP

Restart your PC and try again (it’s always worth a try!)

Verify that the game downloaded correctly. Right-click on the game in your Steam library, select Properties->Local Files, and select “Verify integrity of game cache”.

Check that your drivers are up-to-date. You can find instructions on that here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6416-EYDH-0477

If all of that fails, please send us a mail, and include the following files:

The game’s log. Find this by following this path:

C:>Users>[User Name]>AppData>LocalLow>Fireproof Games>The Room VR Your DxDiag report file. Press the Windows and R keys, and in the “Run” dialogue that opens, type “DxDiag”. Press the “Save all information” button and send us the resulting file.

PlayStation HELP

You can play The Room VR: A Dark Matter on PlayStation 4 PSVR using either the PlayStation Move motion controller or the DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller.

If using the DUALSHOCK®4 Wireless Controller then make sure the light bar of the controller is facing the PlayStation camera to maximise smooth tracking.

There were some particular guidelines that we needed to comply with in order to release on PSVR2. These guidelines made it a requirement that we list the game as room scale.

As long as you have enough room to stretch your arms out in front or to the side of you, you should be able to play the game without any problems. Our recommendation would be to manually set a 2x2m play area and see how you get on.The sitting and standing options are still very much present in the game, so after the play area has been set you will be able to select your preference.
